Chelsea manager will be allowed on touchline

Uefa insists new Chelsea manager Avram Grant will not be banned from the touchline in the UEFA Champions League. Grant replaced Jose Mourinho in charge of The Blues last week but is without the Uefa Pro Licence normally needed to manage in both the Premier League and Europe. However, Uefa say they have no plans to prevent the Israeli from coaching in the Champions League. "We are awaiting the outcome of the discussions between Chelsea, the Israeli Football Association and English Premier League," said a Uefa spokesman. "But we have no intention of banning him from the touchline or taking any other such disciplinary measure." Reports had suggested Grant would not be allowed in Chelsea's technical area at next Wednesday's Champions League clash with Valencia. But Uefa will not act unless the Premier League make a complaint against Grant's lack of the required qualifications.
