Charlton and Chelsea in Parker talks

Charlton have confirmed they are in talks with Chelsea regarding the transfer of Scott Parker.

The England international has been a target for The Blues for some time and they have already had two offers turned down for the midfielder.

Parker has been unsettled at The Valley since the Stamford Bridge outfit made their first bid for the player, despite signing a new long-term contract in the summer.

He has not appeared for Alan Curbishley's side since January 10 and was reportedly training away from the first-team squad.

"As it has become abundantly clear that Scott Parker wishes to leave Charlton, and following a further bid from Chelsea, Charlton can now confirm that they are in negotiations with Chelsea with a view to completing the transfer of the England international," a statement said on Charlton's official website.

It appears The Addicks have decided to cash in on their prized asset rather than hold on to an unhappy player and any fee is likely to be higher than Chelsea's last offer of £7.5 million.
