O'Neill plays down Keane rumours
Reports over the weekend claimed that Keane was considering leaving Old Trafford for his boyhood favourites, but O'Neill has moved quickly to dispel the speculation.
"The opportunity is pretty remote," said O'Neill.
"I'm not so sure Roy Keane would want to leave Man United when next year will be a big one for them in trying to win the English title back from Arsenal.
"It all comes about because Roy Keane has said that he would like to play for Celtic before the end of his career."
O'Neill is preferring to concentrate on trying to replace Henrik Larsson, with the super Swede set to leave in the summer.
The prolific hit-man is set to leave Celtic after seven seasons at the end of the campaign and O'Neill knows he has a job on his hands to replace Larsson.
O'Neill has hinted he could give some of the younger players at the club the chance to prove they are capable of standing into Larsson's boots.
"I would like us to avoid defeat from here on in but regardless of that Henrik is leaving us and we have to see if we can replace him first of all from within," added O'Neill.
"Some of the younger players will now come into the side to see if they can make the step up. players like young Craig Beattie, Ross Wallace and Stephen McManus and maybe even some younger than that."
