Manchester City's defeat in Pep Guardiola's 100th Premier League game means that Jose Mourinho retains a record for the competition.
Guardiola needed victory over Newcastle to overhaul Mourinho's tally of 73 wins from his first 100 games as a Premier League manager. Instead, he stays level for wins and behind on points, having picked up fewer draws.
Mourinho won the Premier League title in each of his first two seasons at Chelsea and his record of 73 wins, 18 draws and nine defeats from 100 games remains unsurpassed.
The records of both Mourinho and his great rival Guardiola are far superior to any other manager in Premier League history in their first 100 matches.
Guardiola's predecessor at Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini, is next on the list with 212 points from his first century of games, with Sir Alex Ferguson just behind on 211.
Roberto Mancini completes the top five, with two fellow Premier League winning managers, Arsene Wenger and Sir Kenny Dalglish, just behind the Italian.
Newcastle managers past and present, Kevin Keegan and Rafa Benitez, have both been runners-up and are also among the top 10.
But the final member of this elite group, Jurgen Klopp, will be hoping to beat Guardiola to a much more important prize at the end of the season...
