Only Arsenal and Manchester City are through to the last 16 from the five British clubs who qualified for the Champions League this season.
After a dismal Champions League campaign, Manchester United are not merely out of the competition but also out of Europe after finishing bottom of Group A.
Unfancied Copenhagen have progressed from the group as runners-up behind Bayern Munich, while Galatasaray will enter the Europa League.
On a bad week for English clubs, Newcastle have also been knocked out of both the Champions League and Europe after a 2-1 defeat at home to AC Milan.
Celtic were knocked out last month but did finish their Champions League campaign in winning fashion after beating Feyenoord - their first victory at home in the Champions League since 2013.
In Group B, Arsenal qualified as group winners with a match to spare, with PSV Eindhoven guaranteed the runners-up spot in the group prior to the pair's 1-1 draw in the Netherlands.
Manchester City secured top spot in Group G and a seeding in the last-16 draw after they beat RB Leipzig 3-2.
PSG became the 16th and final team to reach the knockout stage of the competition after a 1-1 draw with Dortmund.
