With the New Year upon us, join Sky Sports as we take a look back at the some of the very best moments from across the football world during the course of the last 12 months.
Whether at home or abroad, it has been an eye-catching and event-filled 2014 for fans of the game. And we've rounded up a few of our favourites from the biggest leagues, the biggest clubs and the biggest shows on Sky Sports...
Premier League
Last season was widely considered as being one of the greatest in Premier League history, with several intriguing storylines at both the top and bottom of the table coming to a head in the second half of the campaign.
And so whether it is Manchester City’s dramatic title win or Sunderland’s miraculous escape from relegation, these are the five most memorable moments from the English top flight in 2014…
Champions League
Once again, Europe’s premier club competition has thrown up any number of captivating moments during the past 12 months, including La Liga giants Real Madrid finally getting their hands on the trophy for the 10th time in their illustrious history.
And as well as that never-to-be forgotten night in Lisbon back in May, there have also been a number of other captivating moments that the European Cup has produced…
La Liga
Last season in Spain was one of the most riveting in living memory, climaxing with underdogs Atletico Madrid winning their first top-flight title since 1995-96 following a dramatic and tension-filled 1-1 draw at title rivals Barcelona on the final day of the campaign.
However, Atleti’s shock championship win was not the only highlight of 2014 from La Liga…
Football League
It has been a brilliant 2014 across the whole of the Football League, with a mountain of eye-catching moments in the three divisions, in particular Queens Park Rangers’ last-gasp victory over Derby County in the Championship playoff final at Wembley in May, and these other four memorable highlights….

Arsenal
Supporters of the north London club have had plenty to cheer about this year, and none more so than watching their team claim a first piece of silverware since 2005 following a dramatic FA Cup final against Hull City at Wembley last May.
However, as well as that triumph, these are the Gunners’ other highlights from 2014…
Liverpool
2014 was very nearly the year when the Reds finally got their hands on the Premier League trophy for the first time in the club’s history, before a late collapse saw the Merseysiders just miss out on what would have been a first league title triumph since 1990.
That was not the only lowlight from the past 12 months, but Reds fans also had reason to cheer in 2014…
Manchester United
This year has been one of the most eventful ever in the Red Devils’ long history, with the serial Premier League champions employing two managers in 2014 for the first time since 1986.
But it has not been all lows for the club, though, as these top-five moments from the course of the last 12 months show…
Chelsea
It could have been a trophy-laden 2014 for the west Londoners, only for the club to just miss out on both the Premier and Champions League trophies.
However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho is not someone who tolerates second best, and after some minor adjustments during the summer, he now has the club back on track for more silverware in 2015, although it has still been a 2014 to remember…
