Phil Foden contract: Man City star signs new four-year deal running until summer of 2030

Man City have announced Phil Foden has signed a new contract at the club.
The 26-year-old - whose previous deal was set to expire next summer - has agreed to remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
Speaking in an interview published on the club's official media channels, Foden said: "Committing my future to City means everything to me.

"Playing for this club is all I've ever wanted to do and it's always an honour to wear the shirt.
"It's not lost on me that I've been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we're always looking to the future and trying to win more.
"I can only thank the club, staff, team-mates and fans who continue to put their faith in me and trust that I give everything I can for City and I hope I'll be able to repay you for years to come.
"I can't wait to work with Enzo [Maresca] again. He was brilliant during the Treble season - someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting.
"Personally, I know I've improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great club."
Foden has made 369 appearances and scored 110 goals for City's first team since making his debut in a Champions League game against Feyenoord on November 21 2017.
In 2025/26, he played 50 times, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists.
Alongside John Stones and Bernardo Silva - who both left the Etihad this summer - the academy graduate is the most decorated player in the club's history, having won 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, three FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup and three Community Shields.

The curious case of Phil Foden, once a boy wonder, now somewhat of an afterthought. His omission from this summer's England group was expected but will have been no less dispiriting.
This is a player that England built their Euro 2024 bid around.
Since then, the 26-year-old has only exhibited flashes of his immense talent. Consistency has failed him. Pep Guardiola was forced to come to his aid a few times last season, insisting he's still a "top, top player", but it was clear he was no longer trusted to turn up in the big games.
Against that backdrop, a new deal seems bizarrely timed.
And yet, there is some logic to it. City have waved goodbye to Bernardo Silva this summer, leaving a big void in midfield. Guardiola himself is also gone. Foden still holds cohesive power, a player adored by fans because of his Mancunian roots and maverick style.
Now it's up to Enzo Maresca, who knows Foden well, to unlock the quality that resides within. This deal reflects the fact this next period has the potential to be Foden's peak years. A calculated risk, but one worth taking.
