With the January transfer window open for business, clubs around Europe are plotting mid-season moves drawing up their recruitment plans for the summer.
Our friends at Football Whispers have scoured the continental press to round up the latest transfer rumours.
Spain
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has slapped a world-record £225m price tag on Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen. The former Ajax midfielder is a Real Madrid transfer target. The European champions view Eriksen as the ideal replacement for Luka Modric but are not willing to fork out such a fee for the 26-year-old, who has 18 months remaining on his current Spurs contract. Gonzalo Higuain has agreed terms on a move to Chelsea and a deal to take the 31-year-old striker to Stamford Bridge could be concluded in the coming days. The Argentinian is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus but his form has been criticised of late, with just one goal in his last 10 games. Higuain's arrival could open the exit door for the struggling Alvaro Morata, who wants to leave the Blues. (Marca)
Athletic Bilbao's sporting director Rafael Alkorta has confirmed the club's interest in re-signing Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera. The two-cap Spain international left the Basque club for Old Trafford in a £28m deal in 2014. (Cadena Ser)

Italy
Inter Milan are prepared to sell long-time Manchester United transfer target Ivan Perisic in order to fund a move for Real Madrid's Ballon d'Or-winning midfielder Luka Modric.
