Sunderland have completed the signing former Wigan Athletic left-back Reece James on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old left the DW Stadium at the end of last season, and has quickly been snapped up by new Sunderland manager Jack Ross.
James - whose brother Matty plays for Leicester - has signed a one-year deal at the Stadium of Light.
Speaking about his latest signing, Ross said: "Reece played a big part in Wigan's promotion last year and he has good pedigree from his time with Manchester United earlier in his career.
"He's another new signing who is at a good age, and he's very good in the final third which will be big for us next season as we try to get our full-backs high up the park.
"He's another good addition and I think it's exciting to see that we're trying to build something."
James is Sunderland's sixth signing of the summer - and their second of the day - as Ross overhauls his squad following their relegation from the Championship.
