MK Dons chairman Pete Winkelman is hopeful of appointing a new manager next week.

Karl Robinson was sacked as boss last month after six years in charge at the club.

Winkelman has been interviewing candidates in recent days, though caretaker manager Richie Barker will oversee team selection for Saturday's visit of Spennymoor in the first round of the FA Cup.

"We're still in the middle of things and Richie is in charge for the next game," Winkelman told Sky Sports News HQ.

"We've started interviewing and we'll hopefully make an announcement next week."
