Brentford have confirmed the signing of FC Twente defender Andreas Bjelland.
The 26-year-old Denmark international has signed a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, having passed a medical and agreed personal terms late on Wednesday.
Brentford's new head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen said: "I am very happy that we have brought Andreas to Brentford.
"He brings a lot of experience to the squad and that is good for us as we have a lot of young players. He is good defender but also likes to play football from the back.
"Andreas is also a Danish international and it is good for the image of Brentford that we can attract such players."
Phil Giles - the club's new joint-director of football, who is implementing the club's new statistical approach to transfers - said: "Andreas had lots of options when he decided to leave FC Twente this summer so I'm therefore delighted that he chose Brentford.
"Andreas won a Danish league title while working with our coach Flemming Pedersen at Nordsjælland in 2012, and I know that Flemming is particularly happy to have opportunity to work with Andreas once again."
Bjelland began his career at Lyngby in Denmark before a spell with Nordsjælland preceded three years with Twente.
