Nicky Shorey is hoping Portsmouth can take confidence from how they ended last season and make a positive start to their campaign.
The veteran defender was part of a Pompey side which cruised to a 6-1 win at Bognor on Saturday and he has been pleased with manager Andy Awford's squad strengthening so far. He told Portsmouth's official website: "The new guys have come in, we've all gelled well and we're trying to carry on from where we finished last season. "I think we're all still buzzing from the memories we created in those final few matches. "We've now got a trip to Essex next week and that will help the squad come together even more."
