Latest under our scout's gaze is AZ Alkmaar's
Markus Henriksen - recommended by
Sky Sports reader
Paul Knowles.
The scout reports...
Norwegian Markus Henriksen is regarded as one of the most exciting young midfield prospects in Europe.
The 20-year-old has only recently made his first big move when Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar fended off a host of clubs to finalise his signature.
Henriksen has long been seen as one of Norway's and Scandinavia's finest prospects, tall yet elegant - he likes to roam around the midfield and has an eye for goal.
Having moved from his native Trondheim at an early age, he was snapped up by Rosenborg's youth system.
He progressed very quickly through the ranks at Rosenborg, excelling across midfield - either in a defensive or attacking role.
His progress was rewarded as early as 2009 when aged just 16 he was handed his senior debut in a cup match against Gjovik-Lyn.
At this time he was also drafted into the Norwegian set-up, where he also made remarkable progress too. In just 18-months he went from Under-17, to Under-19, to Under-21 to the national side where he made his debut in late 2010.
Obviously by 2010, he had already become a fixture in Rosenborg's first-team - again just a year after making his league debut in late 2009.
It was hardly a shock that at this time, scouts were now flocking to Norway to catch Henriksen in action - a full international at 18.
Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa, Napoli and Werder Bremen were just some of the clubs tipped to make a move for his services.
Henriksen rejected a move to Belgian outfit Club Brugge in January 2012, which looked to leave the way open for Scottish giants Celtic.
But Celtic failed to strike a deal and AZ Alkmaar secured a deal in August and many feel a move to Holland could be a hugely sensible move by the young Norwegian.
Despite being just 20, Henriksen has already played more than 100 games for Rosenborg and it may not take him long to emerge as a star in the Eredivisie.
The scout says...
AZ are an excellent breeding ground for players and Henriksen should progress well in Holland.
Henriksen has all the attributes to become a top player and many clubs will be following his progress very closely over the coming season.
