Craney and Putterill join up with former Accrington boss Coleman
Rochdale manager John Coleman has signed former Accrington Stanley midfielders Ian Craney and Ray Putterill on a non-contract basis.
Both players featured under Coleman at Accrington and have spent most of pre-season training with their old boss in the hope of earning a deal.
Craney and Putterill were involved during Dale's training camp in Austria and have now been added to Coleman's squad ahead of the start of the season.
Experienced midfielder Craney has had several spells at Accrington and left Stanley at the end of last season, while Putterill had a brief stint at Southport last term.
Rochdale open their campaign on Saturday when former manager Keith Hill brings his Barnsley side to Spotland in the Capital One Cup before the League Two season begins a week later at home to Northampton Town.
