Germany international to pen full-time deal with former loan employers
FSV Mainz have struck a deal with Spartak Moscow to bring Malik Fathi back to the club.
The Germany international greatly impressed the Mainz coaching staff during a lengthy loan spell at the club.
He initially returned to the Bundesliga in January 2010 and ended up spending 18 months with Mainz.
A number of eye-catching displays from the 27-year-old have convinced the club that he is deserving of a full-time deal.
Mainz manager Thomas Tuchel told the club's official website: "This is a perfect fit for our club.
Understanding
"I felt like he never left us and we have a strong understanding.
"The club knows Malik well and Malik knows the club well. He will add what we have been looking for at left-back."
It is understood that Fathi will pen a three-year contract upon his arrival.
The financial details involved in the deal have not been revealed, but it is believed that a £1.75million fee will change hands.
