Slovenian midfielder seeks Serie A switch
Valter Birsa admits he is expecting to sign a pre-contract agreement with Serie A outfit Genoa.
The Slovenia international, who is currently on the books of French side Auxerre, had been hoping to secure a switch during the January transfer window.
Those efforts brought no reward, but the midfielder is determined to seal his move to Italy.
With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, the 24-year-old is free to talk with potential suitors.
West Brom were believed to be among those keen to bring the playmaker on board, but Birsa has already set his heart on striking a deal with Genoa.
"I spoke to the coach, he knows what I want and understands my situation," Birsa told L'Equipe.
"Genoa are a real opportunity for me. I will sign in February to arrive next season."
