Midfielder could snub Germany at international level
Cologne midfielder Taner Yalcin has admitted that he could decide to represent Turkey instead of Germany at international level.
Yalcin was born in Germany, but his parents are Turkish and he therefore qualifies for either country.
The 20-year-old has not yet made a decision, however, he would view playing for Turkey as a 'big honour'.
Yalcin, who has been a part of Germany's Under 21 set-up, but also played for Turkey at U18 and U19 level, told
Hurriyet newspaper: "I have not yet made a decision on which country to represent.
"I was born in Germany and I really feel at home in Germany. But still it would be a big honour as well to play for Turkey."
Soldo reports
Yalcin has been a part of the Cologne side who have struggled this season and sit one place above the relegation zone on goal difference.
Cologne drew at home with Hoffenheim on Friday night to mean that they have won just once in the league this season.
That poor run of form has heaped pressure on boss Zvonimir Soldo and last week general manager Michael Meier was forced to dismiss reports the club were planning replace him with former Luxembourg chief Guy Hellers.
Meier told
Kicker: "Koln has not been in touch with Guy Hellers. We have a manager in Zvonimir Soldo. He is under contract at our club."
