Van Den Broek to stay at Prostar Stadium

Benjamin Van Den Broek has signed a new one-year deal with Shrewsbury Town. The Dutch midfielder has enjoyed a good spell since moving from HFC Haarlem, who succumbed to bankruptcy in February this year, leaving the promising 22-year-old without a club. Despite interest from Lierse S.K in Belgium and FC Den Bosch, Van Den Broek decided to make the move to the fourth tier of English football and appears intent on staying put. The youngster signed off the season with his first goal for the club in their final game against Morecambe and is judged to have impressed enough to be offered a new deal with the Shrews as they look to challenge for promotion next season. The news comes in the same week that Kevin McIntyre and Harry Hoonan pledged their futures to the club in what has been a week of tying down some of their best talents.
