Van Zanten, Johansson and Deane leave Easter Road

Hibernian have announced David van Zanten, Jonatan Johansson and Patrick Deane have been released from their contracts by mutual consent. Hibs boss John Hughes had been keen to trim his squad before the transfer window closed and deemed the trio surplus to requirements. Full-back Van Zantan moved to Easter Road from St Mirren last summer and was a regular under former manager Mixu Paatelainen. However, the Irishman has made just one appearance under Hughes this term. Finnish striker Johansson joined Hibs in January but failed to hold down regular first-team football. The former Rangers and Charlton frontman has been hampered by injury of late and has not featured at all since Hughes' appointment. Deane was a member of Hibs' all-conquering U19 team last season but has failed to make the step up into the senior fold.
