Wycombe Wanderers manager Peter Taylor has revealed that talks with former Chelsea defender Frank Sinclair have been put on hold as he waits to find out what funds are available this summer.
The Chairboys are hoping to improve their squad as they prepare for life in League One and Taylor has targeted a centre-half as one of his top priorities.
Veteran Sinclair enjoyed a successful loan period at Adams Park at the back end of last season and has since been released by Lincoln City.
Taylor confirmed he is hoping to sign Sinclair permanently, but concedes that finances could dictate which players are brought in this summer.

"Things are still ongoing in terms of bringing Frank to the club and he understands our current situation," Taylor told
skysports.com.
"I would like to see what funds are available first before bringing players in and the budget will have a big say on things.
"I'm waiting to see what options are out there and there could be a number of different styles of centre-halves out there.
"If the right style of player for us is Frank then I will bring him on board, but if I need to look elsewhere for the right type we need then I will have to get that different type."
Closer to home, Chairboys skipper David McCracken is considering a new deal, with his current contract set to expire this summer and Taylor is desperate for the Scotsman to stay at Adams Park.
He added: "David hasn't signed the new contract yet, but we are very confident that he will agree terms soon.
"I'm desperate for him to stay because he is a great captain, both on and off the field, so we definitely don't want to lose him. We have made him a good offer and we are still hopeful that he will stay with us."
