Striker in need of a new club
Free agent Eddie Johnson is set to undergo a trial period at Crewe Alexandra this summer.
The forward began his career at Gresty Road as a teenage trainee, but soon left to join Manchester United's prestigious academy.
However, he struggled to make a breakthrough at Old Traffod, making just one senior appearance, and was soon shipped out on loan.
He spent the 2004/05 season with Coventry, before returning to Crewe for a productive spell a year later.
He was released by United in 2006 and decided on a move to Bradford, but has suffered a similar fate two years on.
Johnson has been offered the opportunity to join his hometown club, Chester, but is instead hoping to earn the right to test himself in League One with the Railwaymen.
