Manager Dave Penney wields axe
Six more players have been released by Darlington as the League Two outfit continue their clear-out.
Micky Cummins, Julian Joachim, Clark Keltie, Shaun Reay, Neil Wainwright and Scott Wiseman have been told by manager Dave Penney that their contracts will not be renewed.
The news comes after three more players - Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu, John Brackstone and Kevin Burgess - were also released on Tuesday.
The clear-out comes after the Quakers were beaten in their League Two play-off semi-final by Rochdale.
Record fee
Joachim was a club record £100,000 signing from Boston United in 2006 but the Quakers have decided not to take up a one-year option on him.
Midfielder Keltie, who joined the Quakers from non-league Walker Central in 2001, made 179 appearances for the club and scored 11 goals, including in the play-off defeat at Rochdale.
Wainwright is another long-serving player to be released after joining the Quakers on a £50,000 permanent transfer in August 2001. He made more than 250 appearances for the club, but spent periods out on loan at Shrewsbury Town and Mansfield Town this season.
