Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is on the verge of joining Schalke, according to Sky sources.
The 21-year-old Algerian is currently on a season-long loan at the Bundesliga team and it is understood that the fee is around £16m.
Sky believe that his expected 20th appearance for the club, due to be against Cologne this Sunday, would trigger a clause that would make the move permanent.
Schalke are presently 11th in the top flight of German football, with Bentaleb having scored four goals this campaign, along with a further four assists.
He joined Spurs in the summer of 2013, playing almost 50 matches for the first team, and in 2014 was a member of the Algeria squad which contested the World Cup Finals in Brazil.
