Middlesbrough have sold Spanish striker Kike to Primera Division side Eibar for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old joined Boro in the summer of 2014 from Murcia and he went on to make 75 appearances for the Sky Bet Championship club.

The deal was held up on Deadline Day due to administrative problems but has now been ratified by FIFA. However, Eibar's sporting director has confirmed that Kike will not be able to play for his new club until next season.

The former Spain U20 international scored 16 goals during his time on Teesside, but will now return to his homeland with Middlesbrough currently second in the table.

Kike has netted four times in 24 games this season, including two against Bolton in August, and his final goal for the club came at Brighton in December.
