Conor Townsend has brought an end to his long association with Hull City and joined Scunthorpe United on a permanent deal.
Townsend, 22, has been part of the set-up at the KC Stadium since the age of nine but made only one appearance in their senior team and now returns to a club he made six appearances for on loan towards the end of last season.
The left-back, who can also operate in midfield, has been on loan with Vanarama National League side Grimsby Town this season, scoring twice in 12 appearances.
Townsend has also had loan spells with Chesterfield, Carlisle and Dundee United, making more than 100 career appearances so far.
He is Scunthorpe's second January signing, following the conversion of Murray Wallace's loan move from Huddersfield into a permanent transfer earlier in the week.
The League One side also confirmed on Wednesday that winger Terry Hawkridge had been allowed to leave the club.
