Juventus have suspended and fined defender Martin Caceres after he was involved in a car crash late on Monday night.
The Uruguay international ploughed his Ferrari into a bus shelter and parked cars in Turin.
Italian news agency Ansa reported Caceres was over the alcohol limit for driving and had his licence taken away by police.
Juve, who play Sevilla in the Champions League on Wedneday, said the 28-year-old's behaviour was "a gross violation" of his duty to the Serie A club.
"The conduct of Martin Caceres on the night of 28 September represents gross violation of his responsibilities as a Juventus player, as well as damaging the image of the club," said Juventus in a statement.
"Juventus will thus taken disciplinary action against the player in the form of a fine and his temporary suspension from the first team."
Juventus captain Gianluigi Buffon tried to play down the incident when he appeared before the press on the eve of the clash with Europa League champions Sevilla.
"Martin has the total backing of all the squad," said Buffon. "He's a guy who has always given his best and he is loyal. He knows he's made a mistake.
"Obviously it was bad timing, coming two nights before a big game like this, but he's understood and he's sorry.
"Hopefully a win will help us all forget what's happened."
