Zomer and Vleminckx seal 2-1 win over Willem
NEC Nijmegen notched a fourth consecutive victory as they beat struggling Willem II 2-1 at home.
NEC had been embroiled in the scrap for survival with Willem just a few weeks ago but their recent good form has lifted them into mid-table.
There was nothing to choose between the sides early on but a two-goal blitz just before half-time proved decisive.
Ramon Zomer broke the deadlock for the hosts after 40 minutes and Bjorn Vleminckx added a second on the stroke of the interval.
Willem battled hard to get back into the match in the second period and were rewarded when Stefan Nijland struck in the 90th minute.
But there was not enough time for Willem to find an equaliser as NEC held on for another three points.
The result sees NEC climb one place to 10th, while Willem remain just one spot off the bottom.
