10-man visitors earn impressive point
Morecambe were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Exeter after Emmanuel Panther equalised in spectacular fashion at Christie Park.
It all started well enough for Morecambe who enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges with Danny Carlton flashing an early shot inches wide and Stewart Drummond forcing veteran Exeter goalkeeper Paul Jones into a superb save with a bullet header.
Morecambe then opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when striker Rene Howe took advantage of Dan Seabourne's shocking back pass to latch on to the loose ball and round Jones before tapping home.
The second half began with Exeter reduced to 10 men when Berti Cozic was sent off for a late tackle on Craig Stanley but that decision gave the Grecians a lift and they controlled much of the second half.
The Shrimps failed to see off a side reduced to 10 men early in the second half and were made to pay by substitute Panther's stunning late curler.
And Exeter even had another chance to secure all three points when Adam Stansfield was through on goal but shot straight at Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche from inside the penalty area.
