AFC Wimbledon moved above Morecambe and into third in League Two with a 2-1 win at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
The visitors had the better of the opening stages with Rashid Yussuff hitting the post after 12 minutes when he should have scored. The Dons were awarded a 14th-minute penalty when Gary McDonald was adjudged to have fouled Luke Moore. Moore stepped up for the kick but saw his effort denied by an excellent save from Barry Roche. The save gave Morecambe a boost and the Shrimps then hit back with Stewart Drummond opening the scoring on 20 minutes. Laurence Wilson swung over a deep corner and the Morecambe midfielder volleyed neatly past Seb Brown. The visitors equalised in the 35th minute when Jack Midson beat Roche at the near post from the edge of the area with a shot that seemed to zip through the greasy surface. AFC Wimbledon had the better of the second-half possession and with seven minutes remaining Christian Jolley headed home a right-wing cross from Sam Hatton to give Terry Brown's side a fourth successive win.
