Sam Baldock scored a hat-trick as MK Dons produced a scintillating second-half display at home to beat Chesterfield 6-2.
The Spireites were level at the break in Saturday's League One clash at stadium:mk after Scott Boden had cancelled out Baldock's early opener for the Dons. However, the Dons striker's second-half double and further goals from Dean Bowditch, Luke Chadwick and Jay O'Shea, from the penalty spot, ensured another defeat for the winless Spireites, despite a second goal for Boden. Baldock handed the Dons a dream start when he raced onto Jabo Ibehre's lovely pass and drilled home a fine finish from a tight angle in the 12th minute before Boden equalised for Chesterfield, tapping in from close range after Jordan Bowery's shot had been parried by David Martin. The Dons scored twice in as many minutes to race into a 3-1 lead shortly after the break, first when Baldock slid home Ibehre's low cross from close range and then Bowditch, who stole in behind Drew Talbot to coolly slot home. Boden headed in his second from close range in the 66th minute to give the Spireites hope, but the Dons scored three late goals to seal an emphatic win. Chadwick skipped past goalkeeper Lee to curl home the first, then Baldock completed his hat-trick with a fine 25-yard shot before O'Shea scored from the spot after he had been dragged back in the box by Talbot.
