Ricky Miller scored within three minutes of coming on to send Luton back to the top of League Two with a 1-0 win over Tranmere.
Miller, a summer signing from Boston, cut on to his left foot and his curling shot from 20 yards beat giant Rovers goalkeeper Peter Brezovan, who got a hand to the ball but could not keep it out. An even game saw Rovers impress early on as Danny Johnson arrowed a left-footed effort inches past the post, while visiting midfielder Marc Laird's goal was disallowed as he was adjudged offside Johnson went close again when he was denied by the advancing Mark Tyler, before Luton threatened through Michael Harriman, who volleyed Luke Guttridge's cross wide at the far post.. Guttrridge saw his volley flicked over the top by Brezovan, but Town's leading scorer Mark Cullen should have broken the deadlock when sent clean through only to drag his shot wide. After the break Guttridge side-footed off target, while Tyler batted Max Power's fierce drive away, before Miller's introduction changed the game as the substitute fired a cracking winner. The hosts were indebted to a superb save from Tyler in injury time though as he turned Kayode Odejayi's downward header past the post.
