Did you know?
- Newcastle scored two goals from outside the box in the same Premier League game for the first time since April 2018 vs Leicester City (Ayoze Pérez and Jonjo Shelvey).
- Wolves’ Mario Lemina has scored eight Premier League goals, with three of them coming against Newcastle United; the only opponent he has netted more than once against in the competition.
Howe: A big step forward for us
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to Sky Sports:
"It's a massive win for us. Away from home we have questions to answer and that is a big step forward for us."
On his half-time changes: "I wasn't totally satisfied and the lads know they have to perform. We have the ability to make those changes. I have to credit the players who came on. Everyone played their part and it is a massive win.
"I got the sense [of urgency] at the start of the half and then there was bit of a lull and Fabian's goal injected confidence. It took a moment of real class from Harvey and then we had cramp and all of those battling qualities at the end to get over the line."
On Newcastle's start to the season: "I think we are stepping forward in terms of our performances. I think it was a step in the right direction.
"We can improve in lots of different aspects and that is what we are going to be working on this week. We are a really tight-knit group and we have to remain that way."
O'Neil: A lot will stand us in good stead
Wolves boss Gary O'Neil speaking to Sky Sports:
"I think frustration is the right word. It is easy to feel down after results but the group gave everything. They showed loads of quality and I thought we probably edged it. I felt really comfortable and really dangerous. We know we are in a tough run of fixtures and playing teams that have real quality and we are being punished for every error.
"The second goal I am really disappointed with. Harvey Barnes is allowed to come inside and it's a fantastic finish. Nelson Semedo coming off was a big blow. He is really important to us so for him to come off was a big miss. The first one is a deflection but it can happen.
"We are not feeling sorry for ourselves. We had enough opportunities in the game. At 1-0 I thought we looked the most likely for a while and then we started to tired a bit. We were punished for things that can happen at Premier League level. It is a tough one to take because I really enjoyed what I saw from the team for large periods. I think what the fans saw was a lot of effort and good chances. A lot there to stand us in good stead."
Report: Newcastle come from behind to beat Wolves and move third
Newcastle came from behind late on to beat Wolves 2-1 at Molineux and move up to third thanks to Harvey Barnes' stunning long-range strike.
Barnes: We're finding ways to win
Newcastle winger Harvey Barnes speaking to Sky Sports:
"You could see we needed to improve on the first half and it was a big ask in the second half. We haven't hit the heights of last season but we are finding ways to win at the moment and that's important."
On his goal: "I caught it well! When the team is behind you have to take it on yourself to make a difference and I caught it lovely."
Where can Newcastle improve? "I think in a lot of areas. We pride ourselves on clean sheets and in our attacking play there were spells it's not quite clicking, We are getting there. It's a good start points-wise but performance wise we can improve."
Schar targets next level
Newcastle defender Fabian Schar speaking to Sky Sports:
"I think we started the game quite well and then we dropped off a little with our level and then at half-time said we needed to perform better. Two great goals and a big win when you are away from home and down. It is massive for us.
"We can play a lot better. At the moment it is great that we get the results and we need to be more consistent throughout the game. We want to go to the next level.
"We know the feeling of playing in European football but we are not there so we focus on the league. There is lots to achieve and I am looking forward to the season."
Merson: It is an amazing finish from Barnes
Paul Merson on Sky Sports:
"It is an amazing finish [from Barnes], he bends it round from outside the post and brings it back in. He has to sprint to get away from Doherty first, so fair play to him to calm himself down to whip that into the far corner."

Wolves 1-2 Newcastle
Jamie Carragher on Sky Sports:
"The game could have gone either way. Newcastle were the stronger team in the first half in terms of possession, but there was no doubt there was a bit of luck for their equaliser and Wolves did not get the second
"But then they looked really dangerous and this is the Premier League, the quality for Barnes's winner."
Wolves 1-2 Newcastle
Wolves' winless run goes on. Andre impressed on his debut, and you might say the wheels came off only after his withdrawal.
But it was a collector's item from Barnes. Newcastle remain unbeaten.
Wolves 1-2 Newcastle
Sky Sports' Adam Bate at Molineux:
"Another amazing turnaround in the Premier League. Wolves were on top for a period in the second half having already taken the lead but two long-range shots turned it around for Newcastle. A blow for Gary O'Neil but what a start it has now been for Eddie Howe."
Wolves 1-2 Newcastle
FULL TIME! It's a mighty win for Newcastle and for Eddie Howe. They trailed at half-time through Mario Lemina's well-take goal but Howe rung the changes at the break and it worked.
Fabian Schar levelled with a fine strike which took a slight deflection on its way into the net off Dawson before substitute Harvey Barnes won it in style.
Newcastle up to third in the table while Wolves stay third from bottom.
