Romanian striker Adrian Patulea grabbed his 10th goal of the season to end Lincoln's poor run as they beat former boss Keith Alexander's Macclesfield 1-0.
Patulea netted in the 27th minute when he headed in from close range after winger Dany N'Guessan opened up the Macclesfield defence.
The goal was enough to settle a scrappy game and leave Macclesfield to reflect on their fifth consecutive defeat.
The Silkmen had their chances and should have scored in the 46th minute when Gareth Evans found himself in a good position but his powerful shot was pushed out by Lincoln keeper Rob Burch.
The ball came back to Evans but again he was denied by Burch, while N'Guessan went close at the other end with a low shot which was blocked by the legs of Jon Brain.
Macclesfield's best spell came after the introduction of former Lincoln striker Simon Yeo on the hour.
He was gifted the chance of an equaliser with his first touch but - while he got his shot on target- he was denied by Burch.
Macclesfield then piled men forward late on but could not force home an equaliser against Peter Jackson's side.
