No goals despite action-packed encounter

There was plenty of action but no goals at Brisbane Road where Leyton Orient and 10-man Carlisle produced an entertaining affair. The home side enjoyed the greater possession, particularly in the second half, but were unable to find the creativity and killer punch to break down a resilient visiting defence. The Cumbrians were grateful for the alertness of keeper Ben Williams who produced two particularly fine saves to maintain the stalemate as Orient pushed forward. He was first tested by Simon Dawkins eight minutes before the interval after the Spurs loanee had burst clear and then, after 70 minutes, he flung himself to his right to deny Orient striker Adam Boyd. Loick Pires' header from the centre of the penalty area almost gave the home side the goal they were searching for but he failed to hit the target, while at the opposite end substitute Cleveland Taylor grazed the bar with a header moments before the visitors were reduced to 10 men with four minutes remaining. Scott Dobie was shown the red card for violent conduct following an off-the-ball incident with Os central defender Brian Saah and the home side continued to push forward in search of a goal, but they came up against a visiting back line who defended stoutly to take a point and protect their unbeaten league record.
