Bees edge JPT shootout

Brentford beat Leyton Orient 5-4 on penalties in the JPT after the sides had finished 0-0 after 90 minutes.

Goalkeeper Richard Lee was the Bees hero, diving to his right to save a Matthew Spring spot-kick after both sides had successfully converted their first four spot-kicks. The visitors had the better opportunities in the first half and Nicky Adams squandered the best chance on 27 minutes when he got behind the home defence but failed to control the ball with only goalkeeper Lee Butcher to beat. Butcher, making his first start for the club, then pulled off a fine save shortly before the interval when he reacted quickly to deny a Nicky Forster header at point-blank range. However, the hosts enjoyed the better of the second half with Spring, Jimmy Smith and Jonathan Tehoue all coming close to breaking the deadlock before the unmarked Tehoue failed to find the target from 10 yards in added time.
