Oxford gained their third away win in a row when they beat struggling Hereford 1-0 at Edgar Street on Saturday.
Teenager Robert Hall clinched Oxford's victory in the 31st minute when he headed home from close range. Hall, aged 17, who is on loan from West Ham, tormented the Hereford defenders on several occasions with his excellent performance. Oxford were the first on the offensive in the early stages when James Constable headed wide of the goal mouth. Hereford responded with Sam Winnall going close with a sharp header which was curled around the post by Oxford goalkeeper Ryan Clarke. Midfielder James McQuilkin also went close with a 25-yard drive beyond the Oxford goalmouth. But Oxford rallied with Liam Davis shooting wide before the deadlock was broken in the 31st minute. Davis swept past two Hereford defenders before lifting a low cross to Hall who headed past goalkeeper David Cornell from close range. After the break, Oxford continued to show initiative, Davis forcing a solid save from Cornell. In the 65th minute Alfie Potter missed a sitter when he shot wide with only Cornell to beat.
