Hamburg up to fifth after narrow home win
Ivica Olic's stunning second-half strike clinched a 2-1 win for Hamburg at home to Werder Bremen.
Both teams have struggled for consistency of late, but it was Hamburg who found the decisive touch of quality to move into fifth in the table.
Martin Jol's side grabbed an early lead when Jose Paulo Guerrero found the net after just six minutes.
But Bremen were level just past the midway point of the first half when Brazilian playmaker Diego fired home a free-kick.
With a second-half winner seemingly not forthcoming, Olic let fly from 25 yards on 74 minutes and the striker's shot clipped the far post on its way into the net.
