Gills make dream start to life in League One
Simeon Jackson fired a thrilling hat-trick as Gillingham made the dream start to life in League One with an impressive 5-0 win over Swindon.
Mark Bentley had struck with just 12 minutes gone after John Nutter fed Jackson with a long-range pass which he squared to the midfielder to stroke home from 12 yards.
Swindon striker Anthony McNamee led the fightback almost single-handedly and his cross should have been converted but Michael Timlin's diving header skimmed the bar.
Jackson doubled the advantage after 51 minutes when he latched onto another Nutter through ball before volleying home as he raced into the area.
Another perfect delivery from Nutter gave Adam Miller a simple six-yard header in the 72nd minute as the Gills proved their League One credentials.
With five minutes left Jackson once again found his range with a curling 20-yard screamer before adding a simple tap-in three minutes from time to seal the rout.
