Mo Eisa scored his 10th goal of the season as Peterborough continued their impressive run of form with a 2-1 victory away at Gillingham.
Playing against former manager Steve Evans for the first time since he was sacked in January, Peterborough's seventh win in 10 games came courtesy of a dogged Posh performance.
After the hosts had dominated the first half, Joe Ward put Darren Ferguson's side ahead five minutes before the break with a swerving 25-yard shot that left Gills goalkeeper Jack Bonham stranded.
Eisa's penalty six minutes into the second half - awarded after Mark Byrne handled Joe Ward's driven corner - sealed a third Peterborough victory at Priestfield from their last four visits.
Substitute Mikael Mandron brought the game back to life 10 minutes from time when he slotted past Christy Pym for his first league goal for the Gills.
The hosts were punished for not taking their chances, Mikael Ndjoli was denied brilliantly by Pym in the opening two minutes but were unlucky not to get a result when substitute Alex Jakubiak skimmed the crossbar in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
