SPL champions cruise past Dutch opponents
Celtic signed off their participation in the Feyenoord Jubilee Tournament with a 3-1 victory over the competition's hosts.
A Georgios Samaras goal and a brace from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink handed the Bhoys a comfortable first half lead and Feyenoord were only capable of replying after the interval through Leroy Fer.
Having lost their first game of the tournament to Tottenham, Celtic began in determined style and deservedly took the lead on 13 minutes.
Greek striker Samaras took advantage of some slack defending to break the offside trap and bring down a Paul Hartley cross before finishing well.
Generous
Three minutes later Celtic doubled their lead as captain for the night Vennegoor of Hesselink headed in a deep Lee Naylor cross.
The SPL champions were cruising and Feyenoord's generous defending was only helping their cause.
Five minutes before the interval Celtic had their third as Vennegoor of Hesselink drilled in from the left corner of the box following good work from Aiden McGeady.
Feyenoord made more of a contest of the second half, but Celtic, who begin the defence of their domestic crown next weekend, were always comfortable.
However, Fer was to restore some pride for the Eredivisie outfit as he netted the goal of the night on 57 minutes with a spectacular 20-yard curling effort.
