Reuben Reid was Plymouth's Devon derby hero with a hat-trick against Exeter in a comfortable 3-1 win at St James' Park.
Argyle enjoyed almost complete dominance of the first half and went in front when Bobby Reid's scuffed shot fell to namesake Reuben, who controlled well before firing past Christy Pym. Pym made a stunning one-handed stop to deny Lewis Alessandra's shot and Reuben Reid scuffed a good chance wide before Exeter equalised against the run of play in first-half stoppage time. Jordan Moore-Taylor did well to run up the left wing and cross low to the back post, where Arron Davies was on hand to smash the ball into the roof of the net from six yards. Reid bagged his second goal after 57 minutes when Matt Oakley gave away a needless penalty and Reid scored from 12 yards, but the Pilgrims were reduced to 10 men when Olly Lee was sent off for an ugly challenge on Tom Nichols shortly afterwards. Despite the man advantage, Exeter were dismal and Reid completed the scoring after 71 minutes when he capitalised on some shocking defending to bundle the ball home to claim the match ball.
