Second-half goals from Darren Byfield and Lee Hughes sealed a 3-0 win for Oldham over rock-bottom Crewe.
Latics get back to winning ways
Second-half goals from Darren Byfield and Lee Hughes sealed a 3-0 win which ended Oldham's three-game winless run and left Crewe rooted to the foot of the table.
Byfield netted his first for the Latics with a fine solo effort before Hughes wrapped things up with a brace.
Crewe started well but had to wait until the 37th minute for their first opening when Eugen Bopp turned the ball towards goal but keeper Greg Fleming did well to keep it out at the near post.
Mark Carrington's poor header put Hughes clean through on the half-hour mark but the striker shot wide when he should have scored and Byfield then turned another chance wide before his overhead kick was easily saved by Stuart Tomlinson.
But Byfield broke the deadlock in the 58th minute, cutting inside Danny O'Donnell before drilling the ball under Tomlinson at the near post.
Byron Moore had a chance to reply instantly but the young winger dragged his shot wide.
Hughes then put the game beyond the Alex with a pin-point finish from the edge of the box after 68 minutes before nodding in Lewis Alessandra's 85th-minute cross.
