Crewe extended their unbeaten run to 11 games and leapfrogged Aldershot into the play-off zone thanks to a 3-1 home win.
Byron Moore finally broke the deadlock two minutes before the break with a stunning turn and finish into the bottom corner of Jamie Young's net. The Alex doubled their advantage 60 seconds later when Joel Grant applied the finishing touch to a superb team passing move. Clayton Donaldson was denied by Young straight after the break and Anthony Straker side-footed over a glorious chance to pull one back for the visitors. Straker made amends in the 52nd minute, netting Marvin Morgan's perfect centre from six yards out. But Crewe restored their two-goal advantage in the 58th minute as Luke Murphy crossed for Ashley Westwood to head home. Morgan almost gave the visitors a late lifeline but shot cannoned back off the crossbar.
