Mansfield ended a run of three successive away defeats to climb back into the League Two automatic promotion places with a 0-0 draw at Crawley.
There were few thrills in front of goal in a mainly low-key encounter as Crawley were held to their first home 0-0 draw for 17 months.
Mansfield boss David Flitcroft responded to Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Port Vale by making five changes but it was Crawley who edged the opening exchanges.
Midfielder Matty Willock, on loan from Manchester United, was narrowly off target with a 25-yard shot before the recalled Josh Payne was wasteful for the Reds.
Payne blazed over from a good position after a move involving Reece Grego-Cox and Ollie Palmer.
The Stags sprang into action when CJ Hamilton put an angled shot wide before Hamilton set up Tyler Walker only for his shot to be smothered by keeper Glenn Morris.
Recalled Mansfield keeper Conrad Logan made a double save from Palmer and Lewis Young to thwart Crawley, and Mansfield midfielder Jorge Grant had a goal-bound shot blocked just before the break.
Both sides struggled to carve out many clear-cut chances after the interval, although Willock went close with an angled shot in the 76th minute.
Grant got into a dangerous position late on but his shot was cleared off the line by George Francomb, and Morris also saved a header from Walker.
