Crawley 1-2 Forest Green: Christian Doidge double downs lowly Reds
Saturday 6 April 2019 19:27, UK
Leading scorer Christian Doidge scored twice as Forest Green Rovers boosted their League Two play-off bid with a 2-1 win at struggling Crawley.
Dannie Bulman put the Reds ahead but Doidge equalised before half-time and struck again two minutes from time to give Rovers their third successive away victory.
Crawley, with only one win from their previous 10 games, started brightly and Rovers keeper Lewis Ward was called into action early on when he saved a low drive from Filipe Morais.
The Reds had failed to score from open play in the last four outings but skipper Bulman struck to give them the lead in tremendous style after 24 minutes.
The veteran midfielder grabbed his third goal of the season with a ferocious drive into the top corner from 30 yards.

Rovers hit back to equalise after 34 minutes with striker Doidge rounding goalkeeper Glenn Morris to slot in his 10th goal of the season after being fed by Reece Brown.
Crawley's top scorer Ollie Palmer had a close-range header saved just before the interval and later shot over after Paul Digby had given the ball away.
Palmer should have hit the target in the 67th minute when he dragged a shot wide after being set up by Panutche Camara.
Crawley carried the most goal threat and Morais had a late goal-bound shot parried by Ward.
But Doidge stole in to clinch victory for Rovers by heading in a cross from substitute Junior Mondal two minutes from time.
