Brown gaffe gifts U's a point

A mistake from Cheltenham goalkeeper Scott Brown gifted Oxford United a point in a 1-1 draw at the Abbey Business Stadium.

The Robins dominated the first half and took the lead through Wes Thomas, but Jack Midson levelled after the break as Oxford showed a big improvement to continue their unbeaten away run. Oxford's Ryan Clarke saved from Jeff Goulding in the fourth minute after Keith Lowe's free-kick was not dealt with and Andy Gallinagh headed wide from Danny Andrew's inswinging corner. But the home side's pressure finally told when Thomas headed Cheltenham into a deserved lead in the 29th minute, looping Andrew's cross over Clarke for his seventh of the season. Oxford substitute Leigh Franks almost gifted Cheltenham a second goal two minutes into the second half but Clarke did well to scamper back and keep out his defender's attempted clearance. But Oxford capitalised on some generosity at the other end when Brown fumbled Tom Craddock's seemingly harmless shot, giving Midson the simplest of tap-ins to make it 1-1 in the 59th minute.
