Luke Berry's extra-time winner saw League Two Cambridge stun Championship Sheffield Wednesday in the first round of the EFL Cup with a 2-1 victory.
Lucas Joao put the Owls ahead seven minutes into the second half but a last-minute strike from Piero Mingoia levelled to send the game into extra time.
And when the tie looked to be heading for penalties, Berry popped up to fire home the winner.
Tom Dallison saw an early effort ruled out for offside before Joe Pigott forced Wednesday goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith into a smart save.
Will Buckley almost put Wednesday ahead when he stepped in off the flank and rattled a shot off the inside of David Gregory's post.
And moments later in the 52nd minute, the Owls were ahead when Joao cut in from the right and slotted the ball under the body of Gregory.
The home side took the game into extra time with a superb stoppage-time strike from Mingoia when he unleashed a magnificent effort with his weaker left goot that flew past Wildsmith via the far post.
Cambridge had dominated the extra period and their pressure paid off two minutes from the end of extra time when Berry latched onto Josh Coulson's ball into the box, turned his marker and fired across Wildsmith and into the net.
