Jeff Hughes struck twice from the spot to snatch a dramatic 2-2 draw for Notts County at Bury on Tuesday night.
The Northern Ireland international struck 11 minutes from time to steal a point after his side had twice fallen behind. His first penalty cancelled out Andy Bishop's opener and his second came after Giles Coke had restored Bury's lead with a spot-kick of his own. Bishop started the scoring within five minutes, rifling home a stunning first-time strike from the edge of the box. But Shaun Harrad fluffed a golden opportunity to double the Shakers' lead, side-footing wide from Peter Sweeney's perfect cross. The Magpies equalised when Steve Schumacher tripped Lee Hughes inside the box and his namesake slammed home. Bury edged back in front through Coke's penalty after Mike Edwards had handled inside his own area, but a Bury equaliser seemed inevitable. Jeff Hughes saw a header cleared off the line by Harrad but recovered to slot home his second penalty after Efe Sodje handled Lee Hughes' shot.
