Tom Davies' first goal for Bristol Rovers helped the West Country side up to fourth in League One as they saw off MK Dons at the Memorial Stadium.
The first half was a drab affair, with the home side coming closest when Tom Nichols drove wide after the ball was squared to him by Tyler Smith, while Conor McGrandles saw his shot sail over the bar for the visitors.
Without the clinical finishing of injured top scorer Jonson Clarke-Harris, Graham Coughlan's men were lacking a cutting edge - but four minutes after the restart they broke the deadlock.
Just moments earlier, Davies had been denied from a yard out by Dons keeper Lee Nicholls, but the 27-year-old stayed upfield to acrobatically flick Luke Leahy's left-wing delivery past the former Rovers stopper.
Ed Upson could have put the Gas two goals ahead shortly afterwards when his rasping drive from 25 yards was palmed away by Nicholls.
MK Dons stepped up the pressure late on, but it was not enough to avoid a fifth straight League One defeat, while Bristol Rovers stretched their unbeaten league run to six matches.
