Rare away win for Wimbledon

AFC Wimbledon enjoyed their first League Two away victory since mid-August after winning 3-2 at York on Saturday.

Goals from Jake Goodman, Sean Rigg and Matt Tubbs secured three points for the Dons against a York team who are still to record their first home win of the campaign. Consolation goals from Diego De Girolamo and Stephane Zubar proved insufficient for the Minstermen. York went close early on when Lewis Montrose drove narrowly wide from 20 yards but it was Wimbledon who forged ahead on 24 minutes. Goodman met George Francomb's corner to the far post and home keeper Alex Cisak allowed his downward header to slip through his grasp far too easily. The Minstermen might have levelled moments later but Jake Hyde stabbed wide from a yard after Wes Fletcher's drive had been parried by James Shea. York only had to wait 10 minutes into the second period to equalise, though, with De Girolamo's 15-yard strike, from a short corner by Michael Coulson, finding the roof of the net off Goodman's head. Two goals in as many minutes, however, put the visitors in the ascendancy. Both came from Francomb right-wing crosses with the first touched in by Rigg from three yards and the second, on 64 minutes, was headed in from close range by Tubbs. York responded when Zubar scrambled the ball in from a couple of yards following Russell Penn's low centre from the right but it counted for little.
